Co-Founder – Marcus Tessier

Marcus is a graduate of UC Davis and has a BS in Wildlife Fisheries Biology. His passion for the wilderness is evidenced by his myriad of outdoor experiences.

Marcus is a high school science teacher , currently teaching at Benicia High School in the Bay Area. He has over 4 years experience teaching 6th-10th grades, within both high performing and project improvement schools. He has worked with students of all levels, from special education to GATE .

Marcus worked with Naturalists at Large as an Outdoor Education Instructor in Yosemite, Malibu State Park, and Catalina Island. Marcus’s 20+ years of SCUBA (PADI) experience include dives at the California North Coast, Fiji, Okinawa, the Bahamas, California’s Channel Islands, and California lakes and rivers.

Marcus is also a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and has over 10 years leadership experience. He has served as Platoon Commander, Company Commander, and as Reconnaissance Operations Officer. He has gained outstanding outdoor experience by attendeing Mountain Leaders Course, Rope Systems and Vertical Rock Climbers Course, and Desert, Jungle and Winter Mountain Survival Training.

Co-Founder - Becky Tessier

Becky has over 20 years of experience working with youth having taught students in a wide variety of settings, ranging from outdoor summer camps to public inner-city schools.

A Bay Area native, Becky grew up in San Francisco and lived there until moving to Davis in 1993. Becky is a graduate of UC Davis with a BS in Animal Sciences. Becky received her teaching credential in the year 2000 and taught 5th and 6th grades in Sacramento inner city schools for over 5 years.

She has traveled to 48 of the 50 states and has been to over 15 different countries. Her love of the outdoors takes her to such places as Peru, Costa Rica, and Australia, circumnavigating 20,000-foot peaks, exploring virgin rainforest, and diving the Great Barrier Reef.

Becky and her husband Marcus now operate Get Out and Lead in Davis, Calif., and are the proud parents of two wonderful children, Owen (3) and Kaylie (1).
