MISSION: GOAL provides wilderness skills instruction for families, school districts and youth groups to promote environmental stewardship.
VISION: GOAL’s vision is to promote environmental awareness and responsibility through skills based instruction by facilitating outdoor experiences that are enjoyable and safe during one-day, multi-day and evening programs.
COMMITMENT TO OUR CLIENTS: We strive to develop enthusiasm and appreciation for the environment by empowering others with the necessary skills to feel confident and comfortable in the wilderness. GOAL recognizes the authenticity of the wilderness and aims to actualize the opportunity to develop confidence through outdoor experiences.
All guides are required to have completed wilderness EMT or Outdoor Emergency Care, and have experience guiding children and adults in rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking and/or snorkeling. Guides will have a minimum of two years of college education, preferably in the environmental sciences. Lead guides will maintain a California Professional Clear Teaching Credential.
SCHOOL DISTRICTS: Program organizers will meet with teaching staff to integrate earth science, ecology, life science and physical science into the curriculum. We are capable of supporting your course content objectives by matching state science standards with outdoor field activities.
ALTERNATIVE INTERVENTION FOR AT-RISK YOUTH: Individually adapted programs are offered for young adults who require intervention for behavioral concern. We design multi-day outdoor reflective experiences. Contact a program specialist for further details.
ADAPTABILITY: In case our programs don’t happen to fit into your schedule, we also organize custom-built programs with flexible dates and skills. Friends, families and school districts may come to us and request tailored course-work that best fits their needs. We will accommodate your expectations for skill set, group size, and/or environment.
